Bed, Bears & Breakfast
A Valentine’s Fairytale for Adults
Somebody’s been eating the porridge. Somebody’s been sitting in the chairs. And Jake Miller is about to meet the somebodies.
Jake has a plan for Valentine’s weekend: a cozy $300 cottage in the snowy woods of Rhode Island, a candlelight dinner in Providence, and his grandma’s diamond ring tucked in his front pocket. All he has to do is pay cash, find the key under the mat, and ask Jasmine to marry him at exactly the right moment.
He has never once found the right moment.
What he finds instead is a wood stove he can’t light, a hairball he can’t explain, and a pot of porridge with a warning scrawled in the recipe’s margin: three spoonfuls max. Neither of them stops at three. Then the owners come home. They’re bears. They’re wearing their Sunday best. And they would very much like to know who’s been sleeping in their bed.
A Goldilocks retelling told from the wrong side of the front door, with sixteen pen-and-ink illustrations. A 25-minute read.
Kindle and Paperback.
